CIS Tax Rebates - accountant needed??

Hi

I registered with the CIS a couple of months ago and wanted to know if I need an accountant to handle my tax rebate at the end of the year?

If so, if anybody can recommend someone who specialises in this area? I'm in Manchester.

Just keep all your receipts from cis and it's easy to do once you log on to the gateway and do end of year returns

I was doing it at 18 ,it's pretty straight forward you've just got to keep on top throughout the year and keep everything together

If you are earning a decent wage, a good accountant will save you more than he costs.

If you wait long enough a kindly person at the tax office will e-mail and tell you that you are due a rebate. All you have to do is give them your bank details and pin................

Get some folders (tax deductible), keep any paperwork in the folders (I use one per year).
Get a spreadsheet program (Open Office I believe is free). Keep a record of your expenditure and income (receipts are not required for every single expense).
Write a note in the spreadsheet what the expenditure is for (travel to such and such by car, tools, materials, phone bill, etc.). Also write a note for income (payment from Joe Bloggs).

Unless you are earning mega bucks, all you will need to fill out the self assessment is, the totals of your income and expenditure, interest earned from banks and Building Societies and any tax paid.

If you want to do self assessment on line, you will need to set up a Government Gateway Account.
Need to activate the account within the time limit.
