You could always throw them away and buy some LED strings. I've never been that happy about the old type of Christmas lights. I'm sure that the Fire Service would be pleased to see the back of them. They just seem to be a risk that we don't have to take any more.

With having to buy a tree there is no time for electrical upgrades or replacement of incandescent light fittings (or Bakelite fusebox)

And it's only October :(
 
Leave the fairy lights in the loft next to where you’ve got Harness69 chained. No danger then!
