Hi guys, could you tell me how much the dual-rate meter reading costs, please? I have a water heater economy7 so I want to change my meter for dual instead of single. You could also send me a link or details about the one which is worth buying. I would be grateful. Thanks

search for the best tariff that suits your lifestyle, the energy supplier will sort out costs for a replacement meter if it is required.

and bear in mind that with a dual meter, you get cheap leccy at night (12.00- 7.00 am) but your daytime rate will be higher than normal.

Agree with Telecrix... unless you have an extremely large hot water heater (maybe > 1,000 litres ?)... having a dual tariff works out more expensive.

once was possiblr to fit timers to washing machines and fumble dryers so they came on at 12.00 midnight. can't do it now, you need to be there to press a button. advanced technology..... arses. it's done like that to stop us from getting cheap leecy.

You can get washing machines and dishwashers with an integral delayed start... but if you replaced your appliances, I don't think you'd ever get your money back on them before they get too old and decrepit.

I did look at a battery based system that would use off-peak power to re-charge... but even then you'd wear the batteries out before you got your money back !

I have yet to find any 'economy 7' type tariff that makes any sense to normal domestic situations... given the sharp increase in daytime rates that goes alongside the reduced nighttime rate.

...just sayin
