Hi does anyone know what type of transformer I need for a US bought fan to run continuously without issues. V120 60Hz and 12.5A.

I believe power in UK is 230V and 50Hz.

I calculated that the power of the machine is 1500W.

What type of converter and of how many W should I need to operate this device safely and for prolonged period of time. Thank you for all your help.

The first thing you need to confirm is whether the frequency is important. Any 230-120V step-down transforner rated for 1500W continuous load will deal with the voltage, but transformers do not change the frequency.

A 'normal' fanheater with an induction motor made for USA 60Hz power would not work correctly on UK 50Hz. The fan would run too slowly, causing it to overheat. The Dyson probably uses an electronically-commutated motor which might be frequency-independent, but I would want to confirm that before investing in a transforner.

Converting frequency is expensive, so it would be cheaper to buy a UK version if it's not compatible with 50Hz.

Dyson does not recommend the use of any type of power converter for their fans, due to concerns over longevity.
