Aright,

my gold sjib electrical card expired in 2013, been in Australia for the last two years , away to come
home, just wondering how easy it is to renew the card. I passed my FICA in 2010, so it's a good 6 years since I've passed.

i have my 17th edition regs, when I passed in 2010. Im
only back for 9 months so it's a hassle just for some work.

If anyone could help, would be grateful

thanks

You will most likley have to sit the ecs health and safety assesment. I was in a simillar situation recently i i phoned the sjib ( in scotland) and they told me my health amd safety had expired. Wasnt hard to re sit and im currently waiting on my new card in the post.

I applied for mine online towards the end of January. I checked the website yesterday and apparently it's on it's way...
2 months seems like a long time to wait if you're only here for 9 months, and that's after you've got a date to take the test, which could take another couple of months. You might be better off getting a CSCS card to get you on site. There seems to be a fair amount of work around at the moment so if one site insists on a JIB card you can just try the next one.

Edit: That's the JIB down here though, they might be less rubbish in Scotland.

Yeah the health and safety or the regs? I don't want to do reg ****.

What? Test? I was referring to the health & safety test - from memory you have to do that every 3 years. If you've already done the 17th edition you shouldn't need to do it again to the latest amendments.

Sounds good buddy. Yeah I'll do the health and safety test. Thanks for you're help lads. I don't think you can do that health and safety test online. I'm trying to research it, think it was 120 pound. Pricey.

I think you can do the ECS test through Unite online, but I've asked them about it before and they don't know anything about it. If you go through the JIB you have to do it on paper at most assessment centres and you have to wait a while for a date.
There seem to be more CSCS assessment centres, you don't have to wait as long to sit the test, it's online so you get the results straight away, and it's cheaper, but some sites may want an ECS card.

Ah right, I get you. I've lost my card, only got pics of it. Which is annoying. Cheers I'll see what they say when I land in Scotland. Cheers for the help. I wonder if they can send out an old one.
