Heyo, having a new downstairs washroom, sink, basin, boiler and elec towel rail. The electrician tells me that under the latest IEE 17th ed regs its OK to have the switch for the towel rail inside the washroom in the zone 2 area, as there's no steam from a bath or shower - is this correct ? I always thought it had to be outside of the room. The washroom will be on its own isolator with separate mini consumer unit with rcd and otherwise complies with the 17th, having an isolator above the door on the outside etc. Thanks guys.

as long as there is no bath or shower, it's not a "special location" under 701, so your electrician is correct.

Hi , thanks Guys - just everywhere I've been with these elec towel rails the switch has been outside the room - but they all had a bath or shower in there. And the council building inspector is going to return so just wanted to make sure all was perfect.
