Hi
Who can work on equipment which may be live and can a company allow a non qualified person to work on mains which can be live?

In all my years of working it has always been the approved electrician that can carry out this work and why do companies use such people.

Thanks

Nobodies allowed to work on any equipment live mate, only the board do that and they take very very special precautions mate.
Don,t ever be told to work on live stuff, walk away let em sack yer, and you would avem by the those round things footballers kick around.

Im sure someone will know more than me but i would say only a qualified person could carry out live tests or work live in certain situations but normally you shouldnt work live and only dead.
I guess if you talking about a cable jointer who would work for firms like balfourbeattyi etc then they are qualified people who are allowed to work live.

I thought as much, i guess your allowed to carry out Ze test at cu live and Zs at sockets but apart from that nothing else should be done live.

Working live is specialised, use to work live on 400KV overhead lines etc(not liking it at all)
Training and procedures very strict, and adhered to.

Will not work on live under normal circumstances.
My Life is not worth it.
