A question perhaps for @Gavin John Hyde or others:

I have a potential customer who is looking for an EV charge point installed at his property to charge a company vehicle.

He needs to be able to generate usage reports for his employer to be able to claim back the cost of charging the EV.

Any thoughts on the best solution for this?

He could install a private meter on the circuit to the EV charger.

How will he separate out his private from the business charges though?

I had thought of that (though it would have to be a MID meter presumably), but he seemed to be interested in some sort of automatic report from an app or whatever that he could e-mail through. The likes of Zappi will obviously display consumption when in use, but not sure whether reports over a certain period of time can be done with it.

May be better: use a Shelly EM to monitor the consumption on the EV circuit. And use HOME ASSISTANT to produce reports.

I have usually fitted meters on the ev circuit and left it to customer to report as needed. some its all work. others record reading before charging and then record after. it can be backed up with data in the apps.
I have for one customer fitted a charger with payment options, customer used company card to pay for work car and rfid with free use for wifes ev. its worked really well as the two rfid chips have different settings. 1 work 1 personal.
company really pleased with this set up as they simply need the per kwh cost from employee and add it into the software.
will soon be fitting a few more for people at same company

Don't most smart charge points include historical usage and cost data in the dashboard or app? Would this not be sufficient?

I have a Zappi and you can mark each charge as business or not

The unit also records ALL usage and you can download reports from the Myenergi site
