Hi all. Just a quickly. I've had a charge point fitted and was told my bonding is small to gas and no existing to water. The engineer made a call to his office and informed me that the install can still go ahead but the charge point will be set to out of service until I send photos of the rectification works. I used to be in the trade and this dont seem right. Should he have installed but not made final connection then return to connect and inspect bonds etc. Thanks in advance.

What size are the bonds? If 6mm then I see no problem if no signs of damage and continuity is proven.

If it's set to out of service, it can't be used so is not a risk, just the same as not connected.
Whoever does the bonding will issue paperwork which presumably you'll have to send copies of to the E.V installer.
The difference is they'll be able to put it into service remotely, no visit required.

Think he's done right thing. If the bonding is not adequate you can't put it Into service. The works are still classed in progress until the bonding is sorted. Some companies would have turned around and go home not fitting the charger. Seems he's a decent installer

someone actually giving a sh..t about their work....sounds like a good man....not like the ----ers i had to deal with last week who installed a solar pv system and nothing was to regs
