Evenings folks,

I have been asked to install an extractor fan in a kitchen above a cooker. It is a standard thru wall type and not a "kitchen Canopy" type.
I have been looking thru the regs book and onsite guide to see what if any regs effect the location of it but cant find anything.

can any of you folks point me in the right direction.

Thanks Ross.

Not sure the location is overly different from installing one in a bathroom at the opposite end of the rooms door.

Size however is.

dont forget spur at min 300m from cooker and above worktop/accessable. sorry not too up on ventilation. seen as its not within special location (ok, building regs says kitchen is special location but 7671 says not) shouldnt be too many problems. check manufacturers guide or google etc for building regs ventilation

sorry, forget spur and cooker bit! its a wall extract your on about and not cooker hood-stupid me! sorry, just havin a moment!

Hello Chris, thanks for the quick reply...

Can you tell me what it states or where I can view it as I dont have a copy of the building regs.

Have you got a complete copy of the building regs??

There is a minimum distance for a cooker hood above the level of a gas hob,I was measuring and complying with manufacturers booklet for this at one job with the plumber because of low ceilings
The reason may have been the distance for the burners from the flammable hob, or for ventilation resons to do with the gas flame
I cant remember for reason though.so yes, I would expect that for either reason there is a minimum distance

Hi

Ross it needs to be half the extraction of a standard located kitchen fan 30 l/s and be mounted at the cookers recommended distance away from appliance as its located with in the scorch zone. Check the manufacture of the fan first to see if it can be located in this area and the extraction level of the fan.
PS make sure it doesn't have a pullcord.
Regards

Cheers for the replies chaps.

there is no cooker there at present so no manufacturers guidence etc,
