Discuss Fire destroys flats in Barking. in the Electricians Chat - Off Topic Chat area at ElectriciansForums.net

Ok, I’ll start - it looks like a fire on the first floor either on the balcony or inside (and failed to be contained in the flat). It then spread up all the balconies, which although look like they are steel, probably had timber or resin boarding etc. The external fire was clearly intense and penetrated all the flats. Just my thoughts, not for use in court :) .

It's not about the fact someone was daft enough to light a barbeque (allegedly) it's the fact, yet again the fire spread;

The fire appeared to rip through the wooden cladding around the balconies of the building and may have been caused by a barbecue being lit on one of the balconies,

What is the difference between a 7.99 meter building and a 8.01 meter building?

Just a guess, Over 8mtrs is a Tower block?
Or over 8 is when U.K Gov are going to be paying towards cladding repairs. (not that this block would benefit)

The Express are reporting that Bellway Homes were investigated by Watchdog for other developments that fell short on safety.
This development also had issues reported and apparently fire alarm and sprinkler system were faulty.
