Where can I get a hold of that soft flexi cable that is inside consumer units

Just ask for Tri-Rated.

It's called tri-rated. This is because it conforms to 3 different national standards (uk, US and Canada I think).
It is to BS6231. It can be ran upto 90deg Celcius, but design to 70 as the MCBs ect are unlikely to be rated any higher.

You should be able to get it in most wholesalers
