Had a call from a customer friday, they had an error message stating that the date and time had not been set in some time (since it was installed about 6 months ago) The red light was on and the inverter had shutdown. Customer braved the menu system and reset the time and it's working fine since.

Seems a bit ridiculous to have to reset the clock every 6 months, surely they should work without intervention like that. Anyone else had or heard of this?

I have had loads of different errors from Fronius 3.6TL inverters, not come across this one, most of the ones I have had have been hardware faults, I stopped using this inverter (May 2011) after a 3 in 4 chance of faults during switch on, the tech support was very good in the UK, the durability/factory QA must be poor however. I cant have been the only one?

Never had any problems with fronius before but we didnt start using them untill the warranty extension came in whenever that was, may/june?

Have had a few SMA's sent back for various reasons but this is the first issue with fronius.

Yep, on a TL 3.6. Very strange that they all seemed to have happened at the same time.

I'll make some phone calls to see if we've had any other issues on other sites.

We've had another one now, a 4.0 and a 3.0 both TL's and within days of each other but several months apart in comissioning... Can't get through to Fronius Tech support today.

Think i will do the same , you never know they might not get checked that often and could be in standby mode for a fair time !?

If you dont set the time and date at instal and change the country code you could be in for a few re visits peeps.

Liking the Leap year theory, will try again to get hold of fronius to see what their thoughts are.

All ours were set up correctly at commissioning peeps, the date and time were correct but the attention seeking inverter needed to have its buttons pressed again.

Okay, we've just had another IG TL 36 come up with the same error - nearly 12 months after is was first installed. Very annoying. Anyone else?

so, that'd be fronius who can't cope with a leap year on their inverters, power-one who can't cope with a leap year on their remote displays, and SMA who can't cope with the clocks going forward / back on their remote display units, all needing firmware updates at various points.

These strike me as being fairly basic errors from probably the big 3 inverter suppliers to the UK.

European manufacturers opening the door to the Chinese? Funnily enough, they don't put the clocks forward/back in China and the whole massive country is in the same time-zone (but they do have leap years!)
