Hi guys
I’ve seen people state in forums that it is permissible to bond a gas pipe as a continuation of the bonding of the rising water mains. Can anyone supply proof/documentation/official guidelines etc., where this is explicitly stated.
Below is an image of what I am planning. My gas safe engineer is saying it must go directly to the MET and be bonded within 600mm of the meter, which is 7 metres away and outside in a semi submerged box.
Also what counts as visible at inspection time? It’s a rental property. Is removal of kitchen plinth and looking under the kitchen base units acceptable or will I have to bore holes in the unit?
Any help/advice much appreciated.

Thanks. 🙏🏼
That confirms/reinforces my conviction that PEB after entry is not only permissible but even preferred. It’s also much easier than my gas engineer’s choice just downstream of the meter.
I can make the rising mains clamp accessible and visible by moving it up and inside the kitchen base unit. Getting the gas pipe clamp “compliant” is more of a challenge. 🤞

In a semi underground gas meter its usually better to bond this as soon a practicable when it enters the property(we do this in flats all the time) , a BS951 clamp is compliant with BS7671, if the bond is hidden leave a label on or near the consumer unit stating location of water and gas bonds.
