Good News on Solar plus Storage and VAT

Have had announcement today from HMRC on Solar plus storage. If installed at the same time, whole package attracts VAT at 5%. Previous ruling had been 20% on the battery.

We are working on getting retrofit of storage to existing systems down to the same level. This is all one step at a time, but we are now getting a sympathetic ear from BEIS.

Learn something new every day. I thought it already was 5% if installed at same time as the PV solar.

So did alot of people including myself. One or two had got caught out on VAT inspections. Hence the need for the action taken by the Solar Trade Association.

Does anyone know if it only counts for 5% VAT with the first install at a property or could you add a second install and get the battery at 5% VAT too?
