Hi

Can anyone help as OLCI have informed me all tutors on leave. I am doing Module 304 and the question asked is: why does BS 7671 due to the PFC (1.2kA) not allow use of BS 3036 fuse in a domestic installation? Now i have looked trough the OSG and Regs but can see they do not stop the use of BS 3036 and although a S1A fuse will not work (1kA) a S2A fuse has a 2kA max as stated in the table. I know I am learning but the answer in the Regs does not seem to fit the question C&G are asking. Any advice would be greatly appreciated and accepted as said still learning and new to this.

Cheers

Hi,

From what I understand,

S1A--5A-10A (1kA )
S2A--15A--30A (2kA )
S4A-->30A (4kA )
Therefore you would be looking at your measured PFC and comparing this with the ratings of your Protective Devices,
You may want to look at Appendix 3 BGB ( Time/ Current Characteristics ), and also think about RFC with older cables <1.5 cpc and what this might do to your readings.
Others may have more knowledge on this.

Regards.
