hf florescents keep going out at random

weve just had 12 twin 70 watt hf flourescent battens installed to replace 9 old 8 footers.
the existing wiring was re used.
When switched on all light but within 10 minutes one or two go out . often it is the same ones but others also go out at random !
Our electrician has checked the supply voltage and its all ok but is at a loss to the cause.
Any advice we can get would be great.

Volt drop ...................maybe.

If you have an high load machine, perhaps welders or something on the same phase you might get a momentary VD across the fittings to drop the HF control gear out.

As this sounds like an industrial environment, as Tel has stated, any high load, Welders, high starting current motors etc, can very well drop the voltage enough to drop those HF control gear out. You could also have some weak HF ballasts, that might already be on there way out. Only time will tell on that one. Are these new fittings made by a well known/proven manufacturer, or cheap and nasty things with an unknown name?? They are always bad news...

Hi Cat2, Welcome to the forum.
Can you clarify whether the HF fluorescents that go off after a time delay:- 1) go OFF momentarily and then re-strike and light again? OR 2) go OFF after a time delay and stay OFF until the power is switched OFF and later when switched back on the sequence repeats?
