£5500 does seem a bit steep, if it's not a fancy install with stainless fittings etc. and if it's wired in pvc/pvc, then it may not need a full rewire.

How many posters come here "moaning" about a price, but they don't have all the details and only 1 quote.

Get at least 2 more quotss.

Firstly, I'm not an electrician and I'm not going to be doing the work.

A friend of a friend has been quoted to re-wire their 3 bedroom semi in Manchester.
I think due to the age of the house, that it will be VIR with the origional rewireable fusebox.
All sockets, switches and CCU need replacing.

What do you think the price would be roughly?

Thanks.
sounds like a quote from the antiques roadshow...

Depending on what they want, I think £5,500 is quite steep. I'd price labour based on so much per fitting + materials. Then you've got the option of which brands and styles etc. you want.

I'm not far from your friend. I'd be happy to quote it and I'm sure I would be under that 5.5k figure. Message me their details if you want me to take a look.

I reckon the OP is a Cowboy doing works on the cheap for a buddy cowboy builder who gets real sparks to price works then he comes on here asking what we think so he can undercut the Real spark and do a bodge Job, he can't pull the wool over our eyes, 393 posts FFS and still asking questions, :42:

Leave the quote at 5.5k and me and another of the North East contingent will come and do the job for you (terms and conditions apply) :)

You lot certainly like your conspiracy theories on here!

Is this really a 3 week wonder who bodged their own property and the £5500 is the cost to put it right?

Nope, absolutely nothing to do with me. I'm not doing the work as I said.
A friends parents had the quote.

Nope.
See above.
If you read the thread properly then you would see why I have 393 posts. Your the one spamming the thread by only reading part of it then putting a half arsed answer :p

Moved on to something else... Plumbing?

I'd have to be despirate to do that crap!

OK.
Do you think the people on this board are stupid?

I know what I think. You won't like what I think!

No, I don't think people are stupid on here, there are some very knowledgable people, that's why I ask so many questions on things I'm interested in learning.
There is no conspiracy, what I said was the truth,I'm not interested in doing any electrical work in the friends house, especially a rewire.
Your welcome to say what you think.
You really have got the wrong end of the stick.
