Discuss Immersion Heater in the Canada area at ElectriciansForums.net

Have encountered many that have been, the internal thermostat (providing it is fitted) will switch the heater off when it reaches the set temperature, and on again when the temperature drops, so its not realy on all the time as such.
 
Lived in a big rented bungalow many years ago, the electric bills were through the roof the whole year that we lived there

I was working away for a lot of it, but the missus complained because the enamel was stripped off the bath, and the water was always roasting hot

when we came to move out, the old duck that owned the house opened the broom cupboard (which was the opposite end to the house to the bathroom) flicked a scabby little light switch (or so i thought) whilst saying "i never use the immersion heater myself, its too expensive":eek:

so in answer to the question, yes they can be left on, but I REALLY wouldnt reccommend it:mad:
