Immersion length

What is the standard length of the heating element within an immersion tank?

Need to replace one tomorrow and would like to know if they are standard size before I go to job

The tank has one element only, located at top of tank

36 inch i believe

Depends how big the tank is, all the ones I've used for smaller more domestic type hot water tanks have been 14"

Thought them short ones went in the side.

I need to read slower lol. The ones I've worked on are side mounted.

Suppose you could put 14 inches in the top, itd heat the water quicker, be ok for washing up I guess.

Standard domestic are normally 14" or 27", I keep one of eachon the van that way I am covered.

Hate changing them, should be such a easy job but something always seems to go wrong when doing them. Like when I have to change heating valves

Top tank entry are 27"...side enrty 14".....and a small wee reminder, slacken old heater to tank first and dont totaly empty the tank (like i've seen some spakrs do) to remove heater....if tank is emptied and you then try to slacken old element possibilty of splitting copper tank and you may end up replaceing that FoC
