My electricity bill usually ranges from $96-$128 per month. It has risen to around $465 this summer. This is the first time they charged me this much, and we haven't even used that much. The consumption is quite average as we limit the usage of air conditioning in the summer. There may be damaged wires or even possible chances of short circuits with surges, which usually are the reasons for the increase in electricity bills. I am not able to get in touch with any electricians so far. I went for an alternative option by searching online. I came across a licensed electrician company. I am not familiar with hiring companies from such platforms. Has anyone availed of their services before? If so, could you help me out with the overall experience?

Sydney that’s a big jump in you power bill. Do you have a smart meter of do you have the mechanical meter where the center piece spins ?

Have the bills been produced by actual meter readings or are they estimated readings?
1st thing to check is that the meter reading today is a bigger number than the last reading shown on your bill.

Also remember many people this summer have spent a lot more time at home using electricity during the day when otherwise they would have been out of the house at work or socialising.
Covid-19 can triple your energy usage.
