Info needed from our learned friends north of the border

An old mate of mine rang me this afternoon, he lives in the Orkneys and has just bought a house following his divorce. He wants me to go up and install a few extra sockets, a couple of lights and give his new gaff an EICR, I told him it would be far quicker and cheaper to get a local guy out but he says there's not many sparks up there. The ones who are there charge a fortune when they eventually come out and in his experience are not very good.
Effin useless cowboys was the phrase he used.
Now I know that anyone competent can do the EICR and that part p does not exist up there but I get the impression that it's not as simple as me bowling up with my tools, doing the job and issuing a cert.
Could any of you give me chapter and verse of what I'd need to do.
I'll probably go up anyway just for a few days on the lash if truth be known

Im not from that far north, as you know but I seem to remember a thread a while back where the op said he left a copy of his quals, along with the appropriate electrical certs with the client and that was enough. Now, I may be way wrong but I think it was oldtimer that said it.
He may shoot me down for slander but it was defo a lad from Scotland.lol

If he isn't needing a building warrant then you can do a full rewire.

Just do it, issue cert and all will be OK

And $hit loads of oil and gas- they have just opened West of Shetland (close to the Orkney Islands).
The illusion of oil runnig out is just that- somoene told me they reckoned there is 150 years left untouched and still to come out of existing wells

It's a much slower pace of life up here, things get done, but the demanding "english" attitude of wanting it yesterday doesn't exist in the Highlands and Islands.
That said there are numerous people masquerading as electricians, plumbers etc, when they really aren't.
Several of the Highland councils only accept NICEIC or SELECT contractors work if stuff needs signing off under a Building Warrant. As others have said no Part Peeee to contend with

So in a couple of weeks I'm off to the outlying islands for a few days of drunkenness and debauchery. I might even have the time to slot in a little bit of electrical work
