I have a Bell Systems intercom on a perimeter gate fitted with a maglock. I have an additional access control keypad on my front door with another maglock.
I want to wire the system so that pressing the door release button on the handset will trigger the unlocking of both the gate and the front door. I assumed I could wire the associated door release cable that returns from the handset in parallel (handset > door > gate) and that it would trigger both to release.
However, when I wire the door release cable into the ingress input of the door keypad it is disabling the function of the maglock on the gate further downstream. I assume the access panel is offering a ground/shorting or something to upset the device downstream.
Is it possible to use a relay switch to overcome this?
