Is there a shortage of grommets or knowledge and competence?

So 3 days in a row I've seen new ish installs where the 3 different installers have failed to use grommets ..

This is one I saw today:



So apart from the fact theres no grommet and it doesn't comply with the IP ratings .....................

Looks like a 25mm hole!
Could have used a bit of cable sheathing.

Yea seen it so many times,grommets,I D sleeveing ,bending over, of conductors up to 2.5mm,levelling switches,loose conductors....on & on....just like me

Always managed to get grommets myself but some people just don't care and don't use them, some guys I used to work with were bad for this.

Nothing wrong with a home made grommet properly made from T&E sheathing if you're stuck. Best put a tin hat on now.

Let's face it, that is not the work of a good electrician. How much does a stuffing gland cost ffs!

Probably better quality and easier to fit than the rubbish they supply for the back knock-out in most of the amd 3 boards.

I've never liked grommets and I've never allow them on my projects. Glands or bushes if no strain relief is required.

Excellent bit of focusing with your camera there Murdoch! Seriously though it is. If a picture can say a thousand words, a clear picture can probably say 1008 words!!

I would blame that mess on either laziness or ignorance. Plenty of people out there that could fall into one or both of those categories unfortunately. And it seems to be getting worse as time goes on rather than better.
