Am I correct in assuming that in domestic properties as long there is RCD protection and the fans are IPX4 there is not a requirement any more for fitting LV fans in special locations. If this is the case will the manufactuers start to only produce 230 volts units?:)

OK thanks for your replies. According to the elecs guide to the building regs P65: A suitable 230V extractor fan may be installed in zones 1 and 2 and outside the zones. If installed in zones 1 and 2 it must be at least IPX4. So apart from the RCD part which is missing off the paragraph I cannot see why a 230 volt fan cannot be fitted in zone 1.
