Hi all, I'm going to test a few amps, mixing desks and other sound equipment for a touring performer tomorrow, and I was wondering, as they're moved about and probably get knocked about in the baclk of a transit half the time, and covered in beer the rest of it, do they need to have less than a year between each tests, like 6 months or whetever, or is a year sufficient.

Any help appreciated.

That sounds sensible, although ultimately it's up to you as the tester - it might all be in immaculate condition transported in foam lined flight cases and only used for corporate events, or like you said it could all be held together with beer and gaffa tape after having been trashed on stage a few times.

theres shops in Glasgow that do PAT testing for bands and they tell them to get it done twice a year......they take the stuff in and pick it up later on when its been done...

I'd be tempted to say use your own judgement.
Like Novus said, if it's clear the equipment has had some hammer, it's likley to have more again in the near future it will require more frequent testing than if it's looked after well and transported sensibly.
