Hey guys.....does anyone know what the requirements are for landlords regarding safety and stuff for Homes with Multiple Occupancy?

To be a bit more specific we are talking about a subdivided house (divided into 6 flats - all single occupancy).

Are there any requirements for smokes etc. to be fitted in the individual flats or in the communal hallways, or both?
Where is the best place to find more info about this?

Cheers in advance.

Matt

Not sure of the specifics, but I'm pretty sure that each flat counts as a seperate home, so smoke alarm need to be fitted within each flat. They are seperate addresses so are effectively different buildings.

I think the requirements vary slightly from council to council so it may be best to check with the local council for your area

Thanks guys.
My mate is getting the fire safety report (with recommendations) in any day now, so we should have a better idea then.
Looks pretty straight forward as once I know the coding relevant to the premises we can select the right equipment.

I'll keep you all posted, should anyone come up against a similar situation.
