90deg from top of unit and >20m in front in a dark ish room, I've never had a problem setting out spots with it.

One if my best bits of kit and will come into its own when fitting dado, trunking conduit etc.

I also use it when second fixing sockets
 
I'd bite the bullet and get the GLL 380P, I have one and it's amazing, worth very penny. I'll take some photos of it tomorrow if I remember sp you can see it in action.
 
Although I've not had the real chance to use my GLL 250, I've tried it at home and more than pleased. I agree the GLL 380 is better, I couldn't justify the cost. I think a plumb level ability is quite useful (which the 250 hasn't got), there's a Bosch GLC 25 which has that feature, sort of between the 250 & 380, but again more money. Guess I just get use to using the 250, but I'm well pleased with it.
