Due to a change of inverter location I need to lengthen some 4mm dc cables. These are run in plastic flexi conduit. No space for adding mc4 connectors and a junction box or dc switch would be difficult. Is it acceptable to crimp a butt joint and double heat-wrap over the joints? Each one will be staggered so separated from each other, and kept neatly within the flexi conduit. Any thoughts anyone?

should be OK. alternative is to solder then heatshrink

Thanks, I think the crimp connection would be reliable enough, I just wasn't sure if there was any specific rule against this method of joining, given the thickness of the insulation on pv dc cables ...

I only asked for volt drop , but I think you will be ok on that one !?

I think you are being presumptuous, without doing the calculations how do you know?
that extra 0.25v might make all the difference!!
:D :D :D

For DC, it's there and back distance... so is that really 4 metres ?

same for AC unless my brain has become fogged with beer??
