Hi All!

I'm starting my level 3 course soon and have been going through my course notes and textbook doing the cable calcs etc. But i want to get a head start on the design stuff and what im in for.

Does anyone still have their questions from the project that they could sharr so i could have a bash at it before the real deal?

Cheers

I don’t think the same scenario is given every year. I had a car garage when I did mine 4 years ago, but someone else I knew doing it at the same time (through a different college) had a swimming pool.

You'll generally be looking at;

  • 10 step design calculation
  • Explaining any special location considerations
  • Putting across arguments for/against certain protective measures
  • Using manufacturers data within your design project, stating why you went for that particular brand/range/item
  • Safety service consideration (placing some emergency lighting)
  • Labour planning (Gant charts)
  • Goods management (daily take sheet, goods in/out)

Most projects (hotel, pool, training centre, garage) will be a mix of that sort of thing.

Get the 10 step calculation down until you can go through it with little checking. Know where to get manufacturer information.

Cheers Lister,

Got my project through last week and im working through it this week. Luckily, the tutor at my college has been very helpful in taking us through the sorts of thing they and C&G are looking for. And your right, just going over cable calc. examples over and over has been really helpful. That and being handy with the OSG 😀
