Just wanted to say thank you to all that share their experinece and advice in here. I am one of the dreaded part P qualified domestic installers, although I managed to pass my C&G 2391 this year to give me a bit more 'credibility'. And there is no doubt that reading posts on this forum helped me achieve that pass and has also helped me figure out answers to tricky questions (to me anyway) over the last year or so.
I know that there is a range of views about domestic installers on this forum as well as in the electrical world generally, but we are where we are. From my point of view, as someone who is a long way past being a young lad, there are very limited opportunities to retrain and develop some earning capacity whilst at the same time keeping home, family and mortgage payments together. The Domestic Installer route offers one potential opportunity. It isn't perfect, there are plenty of downsides as well as upsides but there is no doubt that it has allowed folks such as myself the opportunity to develop a new career route that otherwise wouldn't be open to me for various practical and financial reasons.
And forums like this, with the generally open and helpful attitide of most posters, have certainly helped me along the way.
So thanks to all that run and post on this forum.
