Currently working on a job where since I started the Cellar has become flooded. about 4" of water across most of the floor. The Cutout and meter are located down there and the consumer unit was before. The reason for a rewire was a fire which resulted in damage to most of the cables on the 1st floor. As a result of the water and the fact that it isn't going to get sorted I have moved the consumer unit out of the cellar so it is directly above where it was in the cellar but now on the 1st floor. My only problem now is that I have a cut out and meter still down there, the board that these are attached to has deteriorated due to damp. Am I to dig my heels in and say sorry the cut out and meter need moving upstairs or do I place a warning notice on the meter, inform the client I am working for and the Policy Holder that the cut out needs to be moved, also note this on my test sheet, will this be enough to cover me? Just wanted some thoughts, only worry about moving the service is that it could take weeks and it will delay payment. hope someone can shed some thoughts.

Well..... is the service head damaged? has the insurer looked at it? were the DNO called?

Presumably you want payment for first fix and partial 2nd fix - so you should be OK, but obviously you can't complete the job till power is up and running again!

So many questions

no the engineers dealing with the claim haven't seen it however they are not interested in the cellar as there is no damage down there as the result of a fire, the cellar is a sh*t hole anyway and its probably why they don't want to go down there. There is no damage to the cut out apart from the board it is screwed to is damaged due to damp. Just want to know where I stand legally.

the cut-out and meter are not your responsibility. advise customer that you would like to see it moved and let them liase with DNO.
