Looking to buy a crimping tool fr re-crimping tags on a meter, only ones i can find are the round crimps which surely the suppliers dont even use ? Anyone have any ideas on whats the best way or where to buy a decent set with the flat tags in ?

Cheers

You cant buy these tools, the DNO issue them to their operatives only as they are all recorded with each meter chap having his own unique number.

You can buy temporary seals on flea bay but only the DNO can fully re-seal a meter.

If the DNO is Scottish and Southern Energy Power Distribution a special proceedures are available to NICEIC, ECA/ELECSA, SELECT and NAPIT registered electricians (and other qualified electricians in an emergency with prior approval) allowing the cutting and resealing of DNO equipment. See the link below for details:

At least one supplier has a bit of common sense about them.

Iv had occasion to use the SSE procedure recently Pop into SSE Depot pick up some seals sign for said seals ,give address as "various" , Nice simple arrive on site get kettle boiled, Phone SSE give mane address post code reason for seal damage autherisation given ,cut seal do job, finish job check clients kettle works ok ,phone SSE tell them Im finished and give the number from temp seal thank them they thank you for informing them "have a good day" sorted

i was talking to SSE a few days ago and got told you didn't even need to reseal. "just phone and tells us you are removing them before hand and we will re-seal next time I we are there" was the message.

I know that I have said this before, but a guy from EON told me that if you get to a meter and it is in a dangerous condition (insert reason here), you can cut the seal to remove the fuse and "make it safe". Then give them a ring and they will reseal it.
