I have installed an MK hi integrety CDU fine ok installed and working , but installing an RCBO where the bus bar is slotted into the main out going of the isolator ,what happend was the isolator snapped back on , whilst i was inserting the busbar into position , most isolators switch on and off with a bit of pressure or if they are on can drop to off quite easily , but the MK one literally from the off position i caught it with the screw driver whist tightening the terminal of the main switch to the bus bar and it shot over to the on position luckily i was stood on my fibre glass ladders and didnt get a shock , but i am amazed how easily the isolator flips into the one position the oposit of what oi would expect it to do ,it flipped to on just how an MCB flips to off very worrying and a very lucky me !!!

here's the intresting bit , i have a lock off kit and always use it but most main switches have the holes for the lock off these dont so MCB lock offs dont fit ,putting the clamp lock off also did not work because the lever isnt big enough to grip so i think for this one its redesign time every MCB or isolator i have used flips to the off position or you have to phiscally switch it over and not flip to the on position which this one does bad design , ill pull the fues the next time ,well there isnt going to be a next time i will no longer use MK dist boards

but isn't this the reason we use 1000v insulated drivers?

Does it not have a little slot bottom right in it like this? mkmain.png

Not sure it does when its switched off if the clamp was used in the position its in now it would lock it in the on position, then again i wear glasses so might have missed it ,i will check when im back on site tomorrow , i couldnt get the C clap to attatch due to the curve of the isolator kept switching the thing on in my eyes it should work the opposit way to what it is if the slot is on the top edge so a lock off can be attatched to it great i missed it dont normally use MK boards , but to flip from off to on to me is not right flip from on to off then yes , your right tel not as much fun though ,had to get me hair cut due to it lol

I have to agree with you about the switch, popped into screwsssfixesss earlier and one was open on display.

Just like you said the switch pops on and has to be pushed off.

Not a good switch.

time for an email to MK then.

ive just fitted a 6 way sub board to replace an existing with a Zd of 0.40
Tested the circuits and the Zs of a circuit of 0.55 had shot up to 3.64 ohms.
think the main switch was shot ,what a pile of cack.
mk used to be quality tackle but if this is the best they can do ill think ill not bother.
electrium anyone?

Agreed MK not what they used to be

here is a thought
get back to manufacturing circuit protection in this country or EU and cut out all this far east cheapo nonsense
Circuit protection is a fundamental part of circuit design and its got to work as it says on the tin.
christ we used to be world leaders in electrical engineering and now you cant even get a consumer unit out of the box to work correctly.
wonder what bean counter thought up this strategy eh?
