Stayed at a hotel in Dudley last night and opened the curtains to this view this morning, i was quite chuffed then i realised thats probably a bit sad

Ohh dear.....I`m back in Newcastle next week...and I hope my hotel view is more interesting...lol
 
Hopefully next week, were getting alot of work from the hotels up there, and all are recommendations

Well did the job, the other firms were on the right track, with the psu, but I think the 50mA Gent output still threw them...lol
 
Yup! I was thinking of that job the other day actually, there are a couple of one zone panels in the workshop at college and we've been tasked with installing them in the bays. Loads of bits were coming back to me like the e.o.l resistors and stuff
 
I think Paul wants to cover this later in his training, its a very simple voltage monitoring circuit, but once you see how it works, you will straight away understand, and will make fault finding easier
 
Whats sad is being able to glance at the insulators on that installation and be able to tell you primary and secondary voltages!
 
Those TX's sitting outside are 33kv/11kv. 132KV insulators are usually around 5' long and a little wider. Never got up close to a 440KV system I'm not authorized to work above 33KV anyway.

Inside the little building probably a couple of 11Kv to 433v transformers. Along with a small 11KV distribution system feeding other Tx's around where you are.

I was guessing as it looks similar to one next to a friends house of mine. This has 132KV Danger signs on the side wall.

Out of interest, what vector group would the 33KV/11KV Tx be?

The 11KV to 433V are most likely Dyn11 are they not?

No we did not cover this at all. Im guessing it's more like ONC HNC HND kind of stuff?

I did some reading about it a while back and found it interesting.

I had been taught the concept of what they are at the training center, although it wasn't in the curriculum. (In short Star/Delta Primary or Secondary and what phase angle displacement there is).

I only learnt about how to utilize different setups from mentors at where I served my time. One use is canceling 3rd/5th harmonics resonating through a system.

It's quite an advanced subject really, if people are interested just ask away. I can see it going over peoples head quite quickly as I sometimes find subjects like this difficult to put in layman's terms.

D = High voltage Delta
yn = low voltage star with neutral.
11 = Low voltage windings are leading the primary by 30 degrees.

Correct, think of the number as a clock face 11 is 30deg lead 10 is 60 etc...

Certainly something I'm interested in, it may lead to other sections of the trade. Look at this thread for example it has gone from 50mA resistors to 33KVA transformers! Love it!
