insulation tested at 250v

earth bond (lead and smps) 0.11ohm
insulation >99.99Mohm
leakage 0.23mA
load <0.05 kVA, (no load applied)
-----------------------------------------------

check my figures please

test smps class 1 with power cord hard wired in

socket : 230v
visual : yes
earth bond : 25a limit 0.10ohm dur 5s
insulation : 250vdc limit 1.00Mohm 2secs
sub leakage skip
leakage skip 230Vac o.75mA 5 sec
touch leakage skip

test smps with detachable power cord,
same as above but 0.15ohm earth bond, to allow 0.05ohn in power cord.

Your top test results look good, the only thing I would add is running the load test with the power supply plugged into the device and some load on it if possible. Is this the same supply you tested yesterday with the high leakage current?

Having a look at the figures underneath I would drop the earth bond from 25A to 200maA but I notice there is lead fitted so what size is the fuse as this would determine the bond test current normally but with the DC power supply I would be more likely to run with the 200mA.

The other test figures look good I wouldn't be too concerned by the earth bond test limits as they will vary by supply lead length and core size and can be measured on the removable leads and calculated on the hard wired ones.

Yes its the same unit, keep trying to blow it up!!!

Power cord has a 5 amp fuse fitted, but think this must be in case of surge when switched on.

unfortunately some of the other guys doing PAT in the firm can't understand resistance principles. God help them when they try FCU testing.

As COP says you only need to be competent.. big mistake.

Bit worrying guys are doing the inspection and testing of appliances without a grasp of resistances!!!!

Thankfully all at my company are maintenance electricians.

to make things worse, they now want use to do a 'visual only' check on chillers.(over 18KG).

but not a COP visual check, a visual case inspection only. And they still want us to put a green pass sticker on them.

So called Risk Assessment, more like cross fingers and hope for the best.

Wonder what HSE would say?

Wonder what HSE would say ?

Nothing cos they are driving the change for more deregulation or less testing
