Hi there,

I have a non maintained escape luminaire that is approx 6 years old. The luminaire works ok, but I have noticed that the ends of the 8W tube glow when the luminaire is in charge mode (ie energised) the tube ends are warm also.

Can anyone shed any light (scuse the pun) on this for me?

Thanks in advance.

Johnboy,

Thanks for the reply. I think that you may be right, I'm thinking that this may require a pc board change to rectify. I would imagine that this will lead to premature failure of the lamps and consume more power.

You are correct in your assumption that this condition will lead to premature failure of tube. It is usually a sign that the 'starter' has got stuck in the start mode.
