been to a job to look at a job where there have been numerous sparks and yet again its bodgit electrical leaving a dangerous condition attatched are some pics how i found them supply polarity incorrect , covers missing from meters exposing the terminals these are on differant phases so 400 volt potential , opps ive blow a fuse say bodgit never mind an bit of 1.5 should do the trick , just put the cover over that broken fuse it will be ok ,there are 6 meters supplying 6 flats all off a supply into henly blocks and then into switch fuses , think ill get the DNO in to put in seperate fuses and meters make life alot easier, so its head downs and work out how it can be sorted out againcornelyn manor 017.JPGcornelyn manor 023.JPGcornelyn manor 025.JPG

How about this one then, not as scary as the CU above.......

And yes it is 4 x T&E into 13A plugs into an entension, off another extension..

need to get knitting with that lot could take a while to sort. Shocking work they just cant care.

Was called in by a builder his electrician had decided not to return, turned out every trade including the building company were cowboys, big mansion in Surrey extension job.
That board was a month old in first pic they paid £3000 for that mess
It took 4 days including testing to rectify to second pic
I found bad work all over the place

Nice board the ses, but being one of the old timers, wondered if cable tieing cables in a board is a new thing ?

I know you labeled the cables so would make tracing a circuit easy, but I was always taught not to tie cables like that. There was also the myth about "letting cables breath" which to be honest I never thought was that relevant.

I suppose it's like taping circuits in trunking, again something I was trained not to do, and in conduit, well I would have been shot.

Nice job mate please I'm not criticizing at all, just wondering

No valid point there mate
I cable tied the neutral leads from the rcbo's because otherwise they float all over the place
Im not too worried about it

nice one SES , i got into the habit of using ties this was after using square D boards with RCBO's the dam curly neutral leads doesnt matter how hard you straighten them they still go back to being curly and looked a right mess , not tieing the cables to let them breath as malcom has pointed out is quite correct as with all cables you have to take the grouping factor into consideration , but i nearly always tie the cables in three phase boards

That sounds about right, i dunno how it happens but they seem to get away with it though. I couldn't sleep at night if I did anything wrong myself.

Yes i called elecsa and they wouldnt touch him unless i provided evidence including reg numbers contravined and then they said they would just send him back to redo the work

And that's the problem. You couldn't sleep at night if you did anything wrong (me either come to that) but these muppets don't KNOW they've done anything wrong! They think they're doing Rolls Royce jobs...

Scheme providers. Thats ALL they're interested in. Providing a scheme and charging for it! Its a completely useless, unpoliced system that helps no one it proports to help.

Malc - was always taught not to tie cables at college and at work, however on working on some of the blue book jobs, all cables must be tied up in panels and in fuseboards in perfect groups etc. They are really fussy about it.
I always prefer them not to be tied as I feel like 'the bad man' when I rip it all apart to replace/move a circuit !
