I reluctantly agree with Dan about the Thanks button. I was a big fan, but some folks (especially new or irrecgular users) didn't use it much. It seemed to be that in the early days it was used lots, and folk were generally quite appreciative of advice given... I think the legend amberleaf had summat like an 85% posts to thanks ratio. So it's gone the same way as "thank you" cards in real life.

I do miss the global activity feed, though. "New posts" is nice; but often threads go downhill and you have to click on the thread to see if it's been updated with an interesting post, or if it's just degenerated. Your own News Feed gives you a nice post-by-post account of what's been put up by those you're following, and it's great because you can see the first couple of lines of the post. But I'm not going to follow everyone, and it's nice to see what people in general are currently talking about, with a couple of lines of their post shown. With the old activity feed, I often ended up looking at threads I wouldn't normally have done due to their thread title, but then I picked up on because the latest posts themselves looked interesting.

As for look and feel - lots lots better on a phone, and seems snappier too. Generally good stuff :)

I disagree about the thanks button. I. Think it was a very good way to show respect to other posters.

Thev like button is very different yet that has been kept which I think is odd.

Both buttons or no buttons imho

Huh. I agree with everything you say (apart from the "all or nothing"). Different uses, good way of showing respect, all for it.... if it worked. But after a while I just got downhearted when I tried to help someone out and got nowt for it.

Indicators on BMWs are a nice idea too, but if no-one uses them you just end up getting frustrated... :)

The thanks button isn't coming back. Whatever the reason you acknowledge a post, the like button can do it.

Use it as a thanks if you agree with somebody or they've helped you, or use it as a like for the same thing.

End of on that one.

Plus to be honest; if you genuinely want to thank somebody why not just say thanks physically and actually give your reason why which will help increase discussion about the topic maybe.

There's a plugin that lets users leave hearts and shocked smilies and thank or dislike and whatnot but I'd never install that type of thing either. We're not Facebook. We dont need affirmation for everything we say and do on here. We're (mostly) stable lol

You could never win though because when we had it, it became a bargaining chip almost, I saw many threads where a member would offer help and the op would say something like " I really appreciate the help " to which he was then prompted to hit the thanks button. you could always invest in a personal back patting device. :p:p

Yeah for now it's using the stock forum settings. PM me what you want changing and I'll do it for you. I will configure that to have unlimited timings when I get around to it.
Ah, I guessed that. might be the case. I was slightly tangled up with uploads and detail as it timed me out. It's not left anything embarrassing though, so I'll alter it if you get round to opening the edit time. Thanks.
