Anyone getting involved in using retro style lighting switches, the ones fitted on wooden boxes, or blocks, if so are the boxes/blocks pre drilled or is this something you have to do yourselves? just wondering, nothing to do on a Friday Afternoon.

I have fitted a few reproduction ones for customers. I'm sure the wooden bases have come pre drilled of the ones I've fitted.

I could do with some actually. I'm doing a small project at home soon with a few circular brown crabtree switches I've salvaged from under floors in customers' houses.

Sadly Mate, all my retro stuff has been given the heave hooh by HIDs Sit the stitch on the block, mark the site for the conductors, try and locate at least two fixing holes in ti fit to the wall, not an easy task I can tell you, if anyone knows Great Pultney Street in Bath, spent many a happy hour tearing my hair out trying to mask the fixing holes by using the switch base in a strategic location. an art even if I say so myself.

They fit onto standard flush back boxes so the fixing are in standard locations.

for wooden bases, buy a router and some oak and mahogany. then make the buggers. if a wood butcher can do it, surely we can.
