I have a little job coming up which will entail an overhead supply on catenary wire to feed an outbuilding [around 18 metres] . This will need 4mm cable as the loading could on occasion reach 6kW.
In the past I often used T&E for this sort of thing but that isn't considered suitable these days, so what cable would you use ?

Always used Twin and Earth Dave

whatever you use, it needs UV tolerance, and so it should be black:

I agree with him agreeing - H07
I grew up in a house that always had a 6 mm T +E on a catenary wire with tape and the odd cable clip holding it on - took a lot and, as far as I know, it is still going. Would like to IR it now, never had a fault on it though.

I agree with whoever agreed earlier. But then again I've had a few beers. And a tia Maria strangely. But I stand by my agreement. When's the turn back on?

Assuming that underground is a no go & that there are no extraneous conductive parts in the outbuilding h07 or swa 6mm would be fine. Id probably use 10mm 3c incase extraneous parts are installed or loading increases for the little extra cost of the cable.
