I'm 3 days ahead on a rewire.

Things are going brilliantly.

I relax, drink cups of tea, have a bit of an inward content smile at how easy it is to make a bit of money whilst enjoying life....

Then.... yesterday.... a little bit of water starts trickling down the wall.

Turns out, I have drilled through the top of a wall, into the ceiling void, straight through a waste pipe.

Not any old waste pipe. A waste pipe under the floorboards (under a tiled bathroom). It is tucked right in the corner literally surrounded on 2 sides by 7x2 joists, tucked up virtually touching it, and the other 2 sides are brick, block wall.

Oh god, my heart drops :(

There is a brilliant plumber on site, who says he can fix it, but he can't physically get to it.
There is top notch builder on site, who stops his plastering, comes and has a look. He explains which joists are safe to remove.

I cut out the ceiling, cut out a section of horrible 3 way joists. Plumber does a first rate job of sealing the hole (correctly). Builder reinstates section of joists, fits plasterboard and skims. No moaning, no hassle, they just do it.

I LOVE the team I work with :D

Would have been a different story if MR plumber had drilled through YOUR cables
I may have heaved a big sigh, but I would have just fixed it. Although the plumber I work with is dual skilled, so he could just fix it himself. He is more than capable.

I've just suggested that we have a summer gathering where I buy all the food for everyone and the first few rounds..

He's just said we're a team, and it doesn't matter, but he's up for a few beers...
