Portable defib unit

Hi I have been asked to provide a supply for a portable defib unit, no other info any one done this before, this I believe is becoming very common in remote and rural areas the idea being that first responders know where these are sited and can collect them 24/7 from fixed locations I know there is one at the MRT post so I assume these are like srorage/charging points anyone ??

All the portable defib units I've seen just charge their batteries from a standard socket point. The client may require a non-RCD dedicated supply with red socket to reduce the risk of power interruptions. I'd approach them for more details to be honest.

Portable units have a no charge long life battery, the green boxes I've seen require a 999 call to get the key code, must be a lamp inside?

Presumably they are designed to be plugged into any 'normal' socket otherwise there wouldn't be much benefit to it being portable?

That makes sense. I was wondering how it would stay put in some places. I'd have thought there'd be some sort of charging circuit though, mini PV in the housing? I'm just guessing but will find out unless someone here posts for sure.

im trained to use one, don't think they use rechargeable batteries. imagine wanting to open case to use on a person and its flat because the charging circuit failed.
the heartstart i used had a battery that was swapped every year to the manufacture..

I was trained to use a Defib' and there are different makes, but typically they are very similar, so those trained can use any (and simple to operate so untrained persons can use them). The one I have experience on, also had a dedicated non chargeable battery with a shelf life. It would be interesting to know if your one has a charging system.

As others have said,they normally have a battery that gets replaced at each service,I know the batteries are very expensive,several hundred quid,also you do normally have to make a 999 call to get the access code,at the same time they send a medic,I wonder if the power supply is for some kind of alarm,so they know if it's been removed?

If someone's jigging out the quicker you can hook up the pads onto the casualty having suspected MI the better as it constantly monitors the hearts rithum. Most units are automatic and deliver the shock think its 200 joules when rithum is out, manual machines state shock advised stand clear blah blah,

Fitted and power supplied via standard plugtop no gubbins on the inside other than a light ,heater, and what I believe is a two pin charge point opens with two keys I will be back out at the same hotel next week so if the keys are available I will have a gander inside cheers all
