I have recently applied for some work maintaining street lighting, maintaining/renewing storage heaters and completing periodic inspections to domestic installations. After the initial 'PPQ' stage, followed by the tendering, I am now down to the final stage the 'Interview'.

The interview will last for 2hrs and will consist of questions from a large panel, however it will also involve me having to give a 25 minute Power point Presentation about my business and our experience in the above fields.

I am really after any advice that anyone can give me about what you would put in this presentation. I can't put in generic marketing slides, it must be things relevant to my company. We do have vast experience in these areas so that's not a problem, it's just ideas for what pictures I should put in and the type of think the panel will be looking for.

I have done something similar before and even though I was successful in my application I think it was down to a cheap tender I entered as my presentation was poor (answering questions, I was fine).

Any help anyone can give me would be greatly appreciated.

i have never done nothing like this but to start the ball rolling i would say,

start with:
-intro of your company people at the top
-slide about your company history etc
-works you have done slide for each different area you speicialise in
-slide about the reason why you would be good for the job stats figures references etc
end of slide show

doesnt have to be too long or too detailed you cant bore people into giving you jobs theses days lol

I cant really give you too much advice on what to put in it, as im sure your soon figure out what you need as you go along. I can give you a bit of advice on the powerpoint itself though.

keep it looking clean and simple, i see far too many people adding little moving pictures or making the background such a odd colour it distracts you from the presentation.

Dont put too much writing on one page, if your looking at the presentation you dont want to be reading it like a book. If you cant help but have a bit more writing than you like, use an effect so that you can bring up a paragraph at a time. By bringing in the writing bit by bit people will pay attention to what you say.

Make sure you dont fill it up with **** that doesnt need to be in there, put in whats relevant, time wll go by fairly quic when your doing the presntation, 25 minutes may seem like ages but if you have enough to talk about and the powerpoint to go with it your be fine. if it lasts 20 minutes im sure no ones going to worry.

Remember to have notes to go with it, anyone can just read from the powerpoint, but you need to talk to the people, look at them etc etc to make a good presentaton, well im sure you know that anyway :0)

hope that helps in some roundabout way.

As it is a short presentation, it may be an idea to use bullets points which would help you to present and would also help to get the focus across to the people involved in the meeting.

Only you will know what information to include about your business but I would certainly highlight some successes of completed works, references, time scales, staff training, H&S in place, Risk assessments, and head office support.

For completed projects you could have a full slide of company logo's of some companies that you have contracted to, for a big bang finish? Leaving this slide on as you continue negotiations will draw attension. Reconisable logo's will etch on the brain when they leave.

I'll leave it at that.....I'm starting to sound like Paul Mckenna......lol :D

Good Luck!

stick in some photos of a typical fault on the stuff you will be fixing,eg burnt out switch on your storage heater, show storage heater semi assembled in order to illustrate work needed to replace an element, show absence of rcds ,photo of you in cherry picker at street light with all safety cones and warning signs, ppe, in place, maybe a photo of a car crashed into lampost, photo of the girls in the office, someone with a test kit,and again make sure he's got his hi vis and hard hat on,maybe a pic of the company fleet, pics of previous work done.
