I have a plug in my front room that I plug the tv into. Recently the tv has been playing up and not turning so I removed it and put a different one in there. Now this one has done the same. Is it possible to get a power surge through just one socket in a house as all the other tv's are fine.

It's either been glued to the floor or the TV is faulty !

I missed out the on bit after turning! The answer I was looking for was more about the power surge to a wall socket
