Re: Homework or guidance?

How about setting up a learning lounge? I know this has been suggested loads of times but hear me out for a min. Set up a learning lounge/room for student electricians were they can post their questions freely without fear of the mick being taken out of them. All members are able to post in that section but if any member starts getting nasty or the opposite and just hands out the answers, bar them from that section only? I'm sure that can be set up and it will protect the young, inexperienced forum users that may never come back to this site if they get a nasty sarcastic reply. Also makes the (worth their weight in gold) members into tutors that can guide and teach on how to find or work out the answer themselves. What do you all think? These could be split into different groups eg:- level 2, level 3, 17th, 2391, NVQ3 as these are the most common questions.

Sounds like a top idea mate, nice one. I've said on this forum from day one, that this forum should be compulsory viewing for students.

How about an "educate joe public" section too?

One that helps clarify what is notifable, the benefits of using scheme members, with EIC's and MWC's are - and when they should expect to get them, the dangers of using unqualified, unregistered "electricians" etc. Somewhere joe public could look to get "high level" advice about Part P??

Ok chaps, the idea is being discussed so watch this space.Might need to ask you a few more q's!
Looking forward to the questions Jason. Hope that you receive constructive answers so we can build this idea into a physical reality and students can become better electricians. I bet that we all wished we knew about this forum whilst we were at college, or that it was about when we were learning. It's too late for most of us but not to late for the men and women that will take our places in time to come. So many trades have been diluted due to lack of support from the elders or from the loss of industry, our tradesman skills can not go down the same route. Long gone are the days of passing our skills to your son to carry the flag, but on here, and in the correct manner we can pass on our knowledge to whoever wants to learn the trade and therefore become a better electrician. (This speech should have 'Land of Hope and Glory' as the background music). Tell you what Jason, make me a mod of this section only (if it goes ahead) I'll make sure that everyone gets a fair go at it. What do you say?

Thanks High Tower, I think there is quite a few of us that think the same. This is getting the ball rolling in the right direction. How many members on how many different threads give their time, effort and knowledge to those that ask for it? Loads! If this idea of ours (im not the first to suggest it) takes off, I'm sure it will be self running in the sense of "We Will Look After This Section" as responsible members. I know that the mods and admin have their hands full due to the massive success of the forum in the past 6 months but I'm sure that the responsible members of the forum can look after this section without causing the mods/admin any headaches.
