We just can't win can we.

I've got to say though in my experience most of the homeowners are happy in the fact that there is some sort of legislation in place to weed out the ranchers!!!!! and dont mind paying a bit extra because they feel that the chap doing the job is bound over by these government standards, not technically true but there you go.

IMO part P is and always will be a joke to us in the trade for as long as the large DIY superstores continue to flog all the electrical bits and pieces to Joe public to do with as he pleases then whats the point.

Its interesting that they think that there is no support for the consumer yet I think all the schemes have some sort of warranty or guarantee in place and a complaints proceedure for them.

You would think that they would welcome it. But I still think they are dictated by price. If they guy down the pub and some guy has done a bit with electrics, not qualified but can do it on the cheap then they will go for it.

The NIC was set up to look after the consumer and the ECA were set up to look after us lads.

And all the schemes operate warranties as this is a government requirement and they insist that each client is made aware of it.

I know a lot of people who have never been offered it.

hi there

What really gets on my nerves is that unless you are part p registered you can work on your own home with out being deemed competent ???????

I have all the usual stuff 23611,2 and c course 2391 17th, and hopefully design in march when the results come out.

Yet i am not competent i was told this by a certain napit inspector who came to our site. We are all commercial, industrial and do not touch house bashing.(nothing wrong with )

do i have do a kitchen fitter course to become a plumber and all that
i think not

will stick with what we do now sounds an awful lot of rubbish niceic should be made to take all the part p bodies slowly dissect and then put the whole lot of then in a skip to land fill lololol

Seriously though i have seen some awful stuff out there and regulation is needed a complete restructure using the jib would be the best place to start. (bet that gets a few comments)

I have noticed B&Q have boards up telling you how to wire a two way circuit ! WTF is going on ?

Its so potential customers can look and say:

'that spark wants how much to wire that up!, I know we can get all the bits and do it ourself'

Its easy the guides are there of course 6mm shower cable 30 ft run, 10.5kw shower, a switch and it works! - sorted!

any quals anyone can get anyone to sit etc but time served is better who will want to sit 4yrs etc for someone else ? what makes the hair stand on my neck is part p 17th ed niceic napit elecsa assessment there should be a law that makes having you picture taken for any of it ! ive spoke to plenty of people that i was doing work for when i was at S.E.B and they were getting mates to stand in for the assessment. What a joke. part scam more like just a money making scam. not as bad if they policed it as they should but why work for it when they can get money for nothin
