According to the manufacturer Marlec, recharegable batteries are not recommended with an iBoost sender. Can anyone explain why please? My non rechargeables are now flat and the only spares I have currently are rechargeable batteries. Are they ok to use temporarily?

It may be because rechargeable batteries are slightly lower voltage than the disposable equivalent, this is especially so with something that takes a lot of batteries. For example if you have an item that takes 8x AA batteries it will get 12 volts if you use disposable batteries and only 10 volts with rechargeables. This low voltage may cause it to malfunction if it's voltage sensitive.

Thank you for your help. In this case it uses just two batteries.Granted the slightly lower voltage may reduce the radio range of the sender, but otherwise, should it cause any damage trying them?

I doubt it would cause damage, more likely just won't work as well or won't work as long.

I have had rechargeable batteries in my iboost for 4 years without a problem.
Just watch out for an orange triangle or battery low symbol on the main unit or just recharge them regularly in early spring or keep a second set ready to swap.
