Rules for lighting above swimming pools

I'm doing this as part of my course work for college. We're designing the layout of lighting circuits for a Hotel swimming pool. I've found some info that under-water lights and lights that water can easily get onto in Zones 0, 1 and 2 need to be SELV and 12V circuits (a.c.)

Zones seem to stop 2.5M above the highest point (EG: a diving board) above a pool. Does this mean that it's OK to have 230V lighting above this point?

I'll have to wait until Monday to find out since I don't have that massive yellow pages of electrical knowledge yet, just my On-Site Guide and Guidance Note 3.

Well take a guess. Think about it logically, such as environment, suitability etc.

Well the ones I've gone for are only IP20 but will be mounted well above the zones, I'd assume on tray or some other supended rig so that they are easy to maintain via a drained pool and cherry picker combination. I only say that 'cos that's what I saw at a local leisure centre when it was closed for maintainance. I couldn't actually see on the site or the linked PDF if it was 230V or not but made the assumption it was due to the 105W and 140W options. There are higher IP rating soloutions available on the same site, I just didn't think they looked as nice.

You might expect the fittings to get a lot of condensation in an indoor heated pool set up, so that may be a factor ?

I would be looking at ones suitable for swimming pools as the environment is different to those listed in your link. I did not open the PDF though.

I have since found some suspended luminaries that are zone 1, 2 and 22 friendly. Although must admit I haven't got a clue what zone 22 is, I assume some sort of industrial environment?
