Trying to cut costs down - is anyone using their own scaffolding? What type? What sort of training do you need? Does it affect your insurance? I'm thinking that on complex jobs we would still use our scaffolder but the bungalow and smaller jobs could be serviced by our own scaffolding.

On bungalows we've borrowed an aluminium tower, split it into two rises and hired a couple of Youngman boards to make our own work platform. No idea if our insurance covers that. No intention of checking. Anything taller we will stick to getting a proper scaffold erected. Our guys are reliable, know exactly what we want and rarely cost more than £350 a job.

We're paying in between £500 - £600 for scaffolding on houses with 4kwp landscape and our guys are the cheapest and dead reliable. I'll keep using them for those jobs but I'm thinking that it's got to be cheaper on bungalows with our own kit.

Haven't had a quote near £1k yet! I'll bet you struggle with your prices if your including scaffolding at that price!!

We use an easi dec system for much of our work and tbh when we could pick and choose we did ;-) now if a job needs scaffolding..........I'd like to be offered the chance to price for the install.

Wondered how you could survive on those prices ;-), I couldn't manage it. Found a hire company that will do 3 weeks, tower scaffold to 2.2m, free delivery - £38.40 + vat/week. Sounds like a no brainer if I could only get half a dozen bungalows together in one go.

be nice , I did some research into prices from scotland to london prices range from 6700k to 20k ????? for 4 kwp

major outfits charge 12k at 9.2% ROI

I'm always nice :sunny: and I like to see everyone on the Forum get on in these difficult times but I do keep wondering if I'm getting my figures wrong when others are coming in with substantially cheaper prices. It's reassuring to know that you're not jumping on the loss leader bandwagon

I know and it's getting harder to resist every day! I kust keep telling myself that if I want to earn minimum wage then I want minimum hassle and there's a McDonalds down the road where I can get that. If I cut the corners to keep the prices low the consequences could be potentially lethal and I'm liable for that.

I think it will pick up after Easter, we'll see a surge the week after next :-)
